Crysalis, Home of the Laceries

The Current Remains, called the Shard of Crysalis, is shaped like a crystal shard, with a north and south tip and a larger section around the middle. The north contains the Soul Caverns, to the south is the Village, and in the center is the Ritual Pool. Between each of these three locations are forests where dangerous crystal beasts lay, but as long as one stays to the path they are safe.

The Soul Caverns
It is here the Guardian Crystal Dragon resides, where each new Lacerie is born, and must be picked up by the annoited village member.
The reflections off the crystals create the illusion of stars. The altar in the center (where the Guardian Crystal Dragon sleeps) is where each newborn Lacerie appears. The altar is surrounded more thickly then other areas by the Crystal Flowers.

The Ritual Pool
The place where the weekly ritual takes place. The Laceries stand in a circle with the reflection of the moon in the center, singing a song of elders. They gather the most power during a full moon, and the least during a new moon, which is often when they are almost powerless.




The Southern Village
Where the Laceries live, their homes mounted in the very walls of the cliffs and mountains of snow and ice. This image is of a rare week where the snow and ice melts, none are born and the world is pulled into chaos. Often the creatures of the forests venture further, so food is stockpiled and the Laceries hide out in their homes.




The Crystal Trials

There are often those that wish to venture beyond the village. They must be deemed worthy by the Guardian Crystal Dragon after venturing forth during the new moon of the week of vulnerability (when the snow melts) to leave an offering. Not all who survive this ordeal are deemed worthy, but those who do are given the ability to reach new worlds with the Crystal Corridor ability.

The world of Crystal Flowers was named and discovered by scientists thousands of years ago, who used technology to create a new work force from the flowers. The first to be created was name Illraes, and it was a mere five years after her creation that she led a rebellion against them. All but her died, but she was so corrupted by the war, and so deeply tied to the Crysalis, that the corruption began to eat away at the world. With all of her strength she cut away a large section of her corrupted soul, doing the same with the world. Only a fragment, still pure, remained. Her body was destroyed, and legend says her soul was sent to a mirror dimension, where she was always fed with the full moon and water in the ritual, fighting her corruption. Legend also says that one day she will re-appear, though weakened, to find her way once more in this new world.

It has been discovered that with the left over technology, that more Laceries were born, and guarded by a dragon of crystal. They formed the modern community, building from nothing to create their new life.
